True healing
begins at home.
Our Healing Home shares 360 changes one family made to their home and daily routines while navigating cancer. Covering nutrition, movement, home environment, daily habits, and more, each change is paired with a journaling prompt that empowers readers to take an active role in their health and well-being.
A Word from the Author
“When my husband, Kevin, was diagnosed with stage IV prostate cancer, we began looking at our lives through a different lens. What started as a search for answers—and a desire to regain a sense of control during an uncertain time—led to hundreds of intentional changes that touched nearly every aspect of our home and daily routines. Along the way, we discovered that small steps, taken consistently, can bring renewed hope, purpose, and empowerment.”

Look Inside
Our Healing Home shares 360 thoughtful changes our family explored after illness arrived at our doorstep.
Organized into 22 sections, each change offers practical steps while inviting readers to consider meaningful changes of their own.
Within each of the 360 pages of changes we implemented, readers are invited to pause and consider how the change might apply to their own lives through a guided journaling prompt, giving readers a moment to slow down to determine how a particular change might affect their own home, health, or daily routines.
At the end of each of the 22 sections, additional reflection questions encourage readers to step back and think more deeply about the broader theme and the changes that feel most meaningful for them.
Throughout the book, readers will also find full-color pages of gentle watercolor artwork, offering visual moments of calm as they move through the journey.

Diagnosed with Cancer?
"My friends and I kept saying we feel helpless and what could we do for her [cancer patient]. This book would be amazing for her. And so many people like her. What a wonderful gift you have given to so many people who read this book." Kim C.
When someone you love is facing cancer, it can be hard to know what to do or say.
A meaningful way to offer support is to give something they can return to — a resource that helps them learn more about healing and creates space to reflect on their own journey to healing.
Our Healing Home is designed to be that kind of gift — something to read slowly and return to often.
Pair It With…
something to hold,
something to share,
something to nurture, or
something that brings a sense of calm to the day.
Sometimes healing begins on the page.
Sometimes it grows through conversation.
Healing through Journaling
Writing things down can help us pause and make sense of our experiences. Journaling creates space to notice what matters most and explore meaningful change. Journaling can help us:
Process emotions
Gain clarity
Reduce stress
Recognize progress
Express gratitude
Inspire action
Healing through Conversation
While journaling is often a personal practice, many people find additional value in sharing their reflections with others. Meaningful conversation can help us:
Gain new perspectives
Feel less alone
Deepen relationships
Learn from others' experiences
Find encouragement and support
Turn reflection into action
The prompts in Our Healing Home can be explored independently or discussed with
a spouse, friend, caregiver, support group, book club, faith community, or healthcare team.

Meet Lisa
Author
I’ve spent most of my life building a home — married, raising four children, and learning along the way what it really means to care for a family.
In the middle of all that plus work as a CPA and volunteering in classrooms, I found my rhythm in quieter places. Time outside. A cup of coffee. A book in hand. I’ve always been someone who reflects, reads, and researches — especially when it comes to health. Nutrition, cooking, healing… I’ve followed the literature for years. Watching conferences, taking masterclasses, and gathering ideas, often making small changes along the way and tucking the rest “in my back pocket.”
Then cancer showed up in our family.
And everything shifted.
What had once been an interest became something more deliberate. With my children grown, I had the space to focus in a new way — how we shopped, how we cooked, how we lived day to day. Not all at once, and not perfectly, but thoughtfully. Choosing what mattered. Letting those choices take root and become part of our home.
That’s how I move through life — not with quick fixes, but with steady intention. Paying close attention, asking good questions, and making changes that last.
Meet Kevin
The Inspiration Behind the Book
Spring 1985. It’s hard to believe it was more than forty years ago that I sat behind Kev in an accounting class in college, admiring his curly hair and hoping he’d turn around. And turn around he did — with the same grin he still gives me all these years later.
Back then, we exchanged those wedding vows, “in sickness and in health,” without really knowing what they would mean. The past few years have challenged us with Kev’s health, but in many ways our marriage has only grown stronger. There has been a great deal of grace in the “in sickness” part.
Kev is one of those people who rarely slows down — running a large consulting firm, completing marathons and triathlons, writing a bestselling book, becoming an ordained minister, and even taking up competitive ballroom dancing. Most people can’t quite keep up with him.
He’s the kind of person who brightens a room when he walks in — always funny, always the storyteller. But the best part? When the evening ends and the party is over, he comes home with me. And the plan is that he’ll keep coming home with me for many more decades.

Illustrator
The illustrations throughout Our Healing Home
were created by my daughter, Meghan.
Meghan studied at The Pennsylvania State University, where she earned a minor in art. She has always loved using art both in her professional work and as a way to relax and recharge at home. For this book, she brought that same thoughtful creativity to each illustration, helping translate many of the themes of reflection, care, and renewal into simple visual moments throughout the pages.
Working on this project together made the book even more meaningful to me. Meghan’s artwork adds a quiet layer of warmth to the reading experience, creating spaces for readers to pause, reflect, and absorb the ideas explored in each chapter.
